Counterfeit
Counterfeit KM-370.5 ½r 1845 Ga MC (Briggs & Bustos Counterfeit issues auction, 10 August 2025, lot 55)
Struck on a slightly debased silver planchet. 1.46 grams, 16.9 millimeters in diameter, coin alignment. Remarkable for its high quality manufacture and close typographic resemblance to the official issue, betrayed only by the oversized Phrygian cap, subtle differences in the eagle’s design, and the absence of the Republican cord on the edge. Metal composition: 87.82% Silver, 10.39% Copper, 0.7393% Lead, 0.5584% Germanium, 0.2803% Zinc, 0.1344% Gold, and 0.0796% Gallium.
